‘British Track and Field Championships’ qualification

Congratulations to Grosvenor sprinter Jenna Breen, Year 13, who recently secured the qualifying time to compete at the prestigious Müller British Track and Field Championships, due to be held in Manchester at the end of June.

Competing at an ‘Athletics NI’ Invitational event, held at the Mary Peters’ Track, Jenna produced a personal best time of 12.10 seconds in the 100 metres to place second, despite being in competition with a number of elite senior athletes.

In addition, Jenna produced a PB in the 200 metres at another recent competition, producing a time of 24.33 seconds at a City of Lisburn Invitational event, again held at the Mary Peters Track. Although not confirmed, she is again hopeful that this will secure her entry into this event at the British Championships.

Jenna, who won four Ulster Schools’ gold medals during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, along with gold in the 300 metres at the 2019 Irish Schools’ Championships, continues to go from strength to strength, despite her limited opportunities to compete over the past year.

Well done to Jenna on her impressive recent performances; we wish her the best of the luck in Manchester and throughout the remainder of the season.
