Eating Disorder Workshops
On Monday 11th March Grosvenor’s Year 8 pupils participated in workshops delivered by Philip Anderson and Lauren Houston, from ‘Eating Disorder Association NI’. These sessions included information and awareness about maintaining positive coping strategies, building healthy self-esteem and body image, consumption of social media content and the power of the media in mental health.
Additionally, the workshops included key information educating students on a range of eating disorders, in addition to providing students with information on how to access help if they or someone they know may be struggling with an eating disorder.
Following several years of delivering these workshops in schools across the country, ‘Eating Disorder Association’ have repeatedly received positive feedback from both students and teaching staff, who believe that the provision of such information enables schools to open the conversation about mental health and enable students in need to access help without fear of judgement.
The session also addressed self-harm and relevant coping strategies in relation to mental health.
Many thanks to Philip and Lauren for delivering such important content to our Year 8 pupils – feedback from all pupils has been extremely positive and we look forward to, hopefully, welcoming them back to GGS again before long.
