Hard Spell 2023

Congratulations to Sophie Quinn (8G), Abbey Armstrong (9R), Jonny Scott (9S), Mia Bovill (10E) and Abby Corbett (Year 14), each of whom were crowned Hard Spell champions in Junior And Senior assemblies during the week beginning Monday 16th January.

Monday’s Junior Assembly saw a number of pupils compete against fellow members of their year groups whilst the Senior Assembly, held on Thursday 19th January, saw four eager participants battle it out for the title.

The event, organised by Head of English Mrs Davidson, is always one of the highlights of the annual assembly calendar, with a selection of courageous students taking to the stage to test their spelling ability in front of hundreds of their expectant peers.

Special mention goes to the aforementioned Abby Corbett, whose victory this year was her fifth in total - given that the event did not run for two years due to Covid, this is a remarkable achievement and one for which she rightly deserves to be lauded.

We look forward to seeing who can inherit Abby’s crown next year.
