Congratulations to four of Grosvenor’s elite hockey players who have each attained representative recognition in recent weeks, with Ethan Trill, Jake Murray, Eva Wainwright and Ellie Burgess achieving selection onto Ulster Talent Development Squads in their respective age groups.

On the boys’ side, Year Thirteen pupil Jake secured his place in the Ulster Under 18 squad as an existing member of the panel, having initially been selected during the previous year and having also participated in the Under 16 squad during the winter of 2017. Jake’s status as a member of the squad will require him to attend training sessions each Friday evening at Stormont, followed by two final sessions at the beginning of January, after which the 40-strong squad will be cut to 22, to compete in a tournament in Wales, as well as an Interprovincial tournament later in the year.

For Ethan, meanwhile, his selection onto the Ulster Under 15 TDS came following trials held in October, following which he was informed of his selection, by email, at the end of that month. His participation within the squad will see him train each Sunday afternoon, for six weeks prior to as well as six weeks after Christmas, following which he will hope to make the cut for the final Under 15 Interprovincial squad to compete towards the end of the season.

As for the girls, both Eva and Ellie secured their places on the Ulster Under 15 Talent Development Squad after impressing at trials held at Stormont in October. Participation in the squad requires them to attend six weeks of training, both before and after Christmas, each Sunday afternoon - in Jordanstown, in Ellie’s case, and at Stormont, in Eva’s. This series of practice sessions will be followed by two further trials, in March and April, following which a final squad will be selected to participate in the 2020 Interprovincial Championships in June.

Well done to all four of Grosvenor’s accomplished quartet on their selection onto their respective squads; we wish them all the best as they aim to make the final cut for Interprovincial selection over the coming months.
