Irish Under 20 Track and Field Championships 2020
Congratulations to Grosvenor Grammar School pupil Jenna Breen, Year Thirteen, who performed superbly to secure gold in the 100 metres event at the Irish Under 20 Track and Field Championships, held at Santry, Dublin, on Saturday 6th September.
Jenna, a past Irish Schools’ sprint Champion, recorded a scintillating time of 12.35 seconds to secure fist place despite, at the age of just 17, being up against athletes up to three years older than her at the event. In addition, Jenna backed up her outstanding 100 metre performance with an impressive display in the 200 metres, where she again performed commendably to secure second place.
Jenna’s successful showing at the Under 20 Championships also came just one week after she secured a place in the final of the 100 metres at the Irish Senior Track and Field Championships, also held at Santry – a hugely impressive feat given that she was competing against the best sprinters, of all ages, from across Ireland.
Well done to Jenna - we hope she has the opportunity to build even further on her recent success during the Track and Field season of 2021.
