Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Madeleine McKnight, Year Thirteen, who was selected earlier in the year to represent Northern Ireland at a prestigious Youth Conference held in Brussels.

The conference, held in June 2019, saw selected young people from across Europe invited to discuss the issue of ‘The Digital Environment’. Madeleine’s invitation to the event came following her voluntary participation as a member of the NICCY (Northern Ireland Commission for Children and Young People) Youth Panel, which she has been a member of since March 2016, from which she was invited to join a working group on a project entitled ENYA (European Network of Young Advisers).

Following Madeleine’s highly worthwhile trip to Brussels, she and each of her fellow participants from the seminar were invited to attend a follow-up conference in Belfast, where she was given the honour of opening the event by delivering a twenty minute presentation titled ‘Being a Young Person in Northern Ireland’.

Very well done to Madeleine on her impressive achievements over the past number of months – she has done both herself and Grosvenor proud and we wish her the best of luck in her future NICCY-related endeavours.
