Scholastic Book Fair

During the final week of January, from Friday 24th through to Thursday 30th, the new Grosvenor Library hosted its first Scholastic Book Fair as successful applicants from Grosvenor’s Junior and Senior schools took over preparations for the event during lunchtime and after school, under the supervision of the School’s Librarian, Mme Brown.

A Scholastic Book Fair is a fun, pop-up event that is all about books. The GGS Book Fair was a celebration of reading and a great way to promote the Library and the work of the School’s Pupil Librarians. The team of enthusiastic helpers created posters and advertised the fair throughout the school, helped their fellow pupils with purchases and orders, and made the Library a buzzing hub of activity before and during the event.

The mobile bookcases, packed with over 200 of the newest and best books from over sixty publishers, arrived on Friday 24th amongst great anticipation from Mme Brown and her team of helpers. Once set up, there was no stopping those half-price books from flying off the shelves - and fly they did! Half-way through the week, the team celebrated having already met their sales target of £300. By the end of the book fair, they had more than doubled it!

In total, an amazing £750 worth of books were sold at the fair, so Mme Brown was able to choose 18 new books from the half-price selection. These new books are currently displayed in the Library’s entrance and can be borrowed by any Grosvenor pupil. After this resounding success, Mme Brown and her team are now hoping to make the Book Fair a yearly event, so keep an eye out for the Grosvenor Book Fair 2021!

Thank you to all Grosvenor pupils and staff who came to the Library to support the fair by browsing and purchasing books. Grosvenor truly houses the most avid readers that Mme Brown and her team have ever encountered!
