World Table Tennis Event 2023

Congratulations to Grosvenor’s table tennis star Ben Watson, Year 14, who has been selected to represent Ireland in the forthcoming World Table Tennis (WTT) Event, due to be held in Hungary from 2nd – 5th November 2023. 

Ben's participation in this tournament comes after leading the Ulster Under 21 team to victory in this year’s Interprovincial series and finishing the season ranked No 1 in Ireland at Under 17, and No 2 in Ireland at Under 19, level.

The WTT Youth Contender Event, to be held in Szombathely, will see over 130 competitors from 41 countries participate, including the world ranked No 8 from Japan. In addition to the European players competing, there will also be representation from Brazil, Israel, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, America, Canada and India. Ben will compete in both the Under 17 and Under 19 categories.

Well done to Ben on such an impressive achievement - the competition promises to be a fantastic experience and we wish him well in competing at such a prestigious, elite event.
