Overview
The French Department seeks to offer supported learning of the French language and culture to all students. Each pupil is encouraged to develop a commitment to independent learning and thereby to improve their self-confidence and self-esteem.
Aims
To promote the ability to recognise and produce French
To gain an understanding of French culture
To encourage pupils to appreciate the importance of foreign culture
To promote transferable skills, such as the ability to problem-solve, to communicate effectively and to be meticulous in checking their own work.
To provide adequate opportunities for pupils to fulfil their academic potential in external examinations (GCSE, GCE), thereby preparing them for Further and/or Higher Education.
