Table Tennis - Ulster Team Championships

Congratulations to the School’s Under 19 Boys’ table tennis team which was victorious at the Ulster Team Championships, held recently at Lisburn Racquets Club.

The team, comprising pupils Ben Watson, Junior Close, Euan Hanna, Karsten Close, Jack Bailie and Stanley Rintoul, stormed to victory without losing a single match – securing clean sweeps throughout the competition, including against Monaghan Collegiate School in the final.

In addition, both the Under 19 girls’ and Under 13 boys’ teams performed well to secure silver medals. In the girls’ competition, the team of Lily Parke, Melissa Johnston, Naomi Humes, Emma Mackey, Amelia Jankowska and Gracie Ashbridge secured convincing victories throughout before losing narrowly to Royal School Dungannon in the Final.

In the boys’ event, meanwhile, the team, made up of Matthew Bailie, Alfie Kennedy, Alex Stevenson, Ethan Reid, Lucas Marshall and Scott Reid, again secured a series of convincing victories before losing by the narrowest of margins - 5 matches to 4 - against St. Catherine’s College, Armagh, in the final.

Well done to all three teams on their impressive displays.
