James Shields – Dual Representative Recognition
Congratulations to James Shields, Year 11, who excelled himself by recently gaining representative recognition in two sports – hockey and cricket.
In cricket, wicketkeeper James secured selection onto the Northern Cricket Union (NCU) Under 15 Team after initially impressing at winter nets, held in Jordanstown earlier in the year, followed by outdoor training, held at Campbell College over recent months. James, who has starred for Grosvenor’s Under 15 XI this year and also plays for North Down C.C., is now set to represent the N.C.U. in a series of interprovincial fixtures in July.
In addition, James recently gained a place in the Ulster Under 16 Hockey Squad following a series of impressive displays for both Grosvenor and Lisnagarvey Hockey Club during the season. Defender James made his Ulster debut in a fixture against Scotland on Saturday 10th June, while he also hopes to be involved in a series of interprovincial fixtures in the autumn.
Well done to James on his dual selection – to achieve such an elite standard in two sports is testament to both his incredible talent and dedication. We wish him the best of luck on both the hockey pitch and cricket square over the coming months.
