Congratulations to Grosvenor pupil Ciara Irvine, who recently received the prestigious ‘VI Award for Best Student of Spanish in the UK 2019’, awarded by the Spanish Embassy and sponsored by the Junta de Castilla y León.

Ciara’s accolade came in light of accruing the best cumulative score from her GCSE and AS level results amongst all pupils in the United Kingdom; including achieving an impeccable 400/400 in her GCSE Spanish, as well as 190/200 at AS - a truly phenomenal achievement

Awarding the prize to Ciara, the Embassy commented on how impressed they were that she had combined Sciences and Humanities at GCSE, as well as her Science profile with Spanish at A level.

In winning the esteemed award, Ciara was rewarded with a three day trip to Castilla y León, with board and lodgings covered; an incredible prize that she has availed of this month.

Ciara’s superb achievement is a reflection not only of her own ability, application and achievement, but also the outstanding work carried out within Grsvenor’s effervescent Spanish department as a whole, which has managed to maximise Ciara’s potential through expert teaching and support - namely through Head of Spanish Mrs Amanda Salt, who has taught Ciara for the past two years, as well as fellow Spanish teacher Mrs Julie Hay, who taught her for GCSE.

Commenting on Ciara’s success, Mrs Salt commented: “We are absolutely delighted to see Ciara’s superb academic achievements recognised in this way and hope that her Spanish is an asset to her in the future”.

Well done to Ciara on her success; all at Grosvenor are incredibly proud of her impressive feat and wish her the best of luck in her future academic endeavors.
