‘Thales’ Work Experience

Congratulations to Year 12 pupil Daniel Corbett who recently benefitted from the opportunity to participate in a three day work experience placement with Thales Group.

Thales, a multinational Engineering firm with premises in Castlereagh Industrial Estate, provided the opportunity for students to apply for their work experience programme earlier in the year, with forty pupils from across the UK eventually being accepted onto the scheme.

Daniel’s successful application came after the opportunity was advertised on Grosvenor’s Year 12 CEIAG Google Classroom in January, following which he completed an online application form and psychometric test from which he received analysis and feedback, as well as notification of his success, in early March.

Daniel’s work experience, which took place over the Easter holidays, saw him participate in a series of online Zoom meetings and engage in a project that saw he and his teammates tasked with making a marketing pack in order to sell a drone to Thailand. In addition, Daniel participated in a worthwhile course dealing with the issue of Professional Writing – how to communicate professionally through such mediums as emails and letters.

Upon completion of the course, Daniel commented on its highly worthwhile nature, which he hopes will now benefit him as he aims, long-term, to pursue a career in Aerospace Engineering.

Well done to Daniel on his success and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavours.
