The Ulster Orchestra – ‘Oscar Winners’ Concert

On the evening of Saturday 5th February a number of Grosvenor’s GCSE and AS Music students took a break from their busy schedules and escaped to Hollywood with the Ulster Orchestra, as it presented its ‘Oscar Winners’ concert at the Waterfront Hall.

It was amazing for the students to hear an augmented Ulster Orchestra, conducted by Richard Balcombe with acclaimed West End vocalists Louise Dearman (‘Wicked’, ‘Guys ‘n’ Dolls’) and Graham Bickley (‘Les Misérables’, ‘Bread’), perform an exciting selection of award-winning hits.

The programme included a wide selection of music, from ‘Frozen’ to James Bond and ‘Dirty Dancing’, with a double standing ovation at the end.

The pupils were accompanied on the night by Head of Music Miss Foster, along with Ms Allen.

An enjoyable evening was had by all.
